Mpinganjira tells Nomads fans to leave coaches alone
Mighty Wanderers Football Club president Thomson Mpinganjira has said he instructed the team’s technical panel not to take instructions from officials and fans.
The business mogul and philanthropist said this contributed to the team’s success this season, including winning the TNM Super League title.
Said Mpinganjira: “One of the reasons the team struggles is because we interfere in the coaches’ work which is not good.
“I told them [coaches] not to take instructions from any official or supporter and if they do, they should let me know.”
The Nomads’ main sponsor, disclosed that the club will renew the contracts of the technical panel led by head coach Bob Mpinganjira.
“You don’t change something that is working. So, they will be maintained. But we are considering sending some of them for training outside during the upcoming off-season,” said Mpinganjira.

He also said winning the league title vindicated him as there were some people within the club’s set up who were against maintaining Bob as head coach.
“I had to fight some people over Bob and now I feel vindicated for putting my foot down,” said Mpinganjira.
On the prospects of beefing up the squad next season, he said: “I do not think the squad has been fully utilised, otherwise I believe we have a good team. Maybe we could consider attacking midfielders and strikers as we look at [joining] CAF tourney.”
On his part, Bob hailed Mpinganjira for his trust and confidence in the technical panel.
“The president gave us all the support, he stood by us and we would like to continue repaying him for his faith and confidence in us,” he said.
Wanderers top the flagship league with 68 points with a game to go, having won 20, drawn eight and lost once.
